Porting to Your Carrier

How It Works

To transfer (port) your Number Shack number to your carrier, follow their specific porting instructions, available on their website under sections like “Porting,” “Port In,” or “Number Transfer.”

Visit carriers.numbershack.com for links to major carriers’ porting guidelines.

Your carrier will initiate a port request to the current carrier (as listed on your Port Out Certificate) and handle the process with their underlying carrier.

The port will only succeed if your carrier submits the exact details from your Port Out Certificate.

Key Information: Your POC

Your Port Out Certificate (POC) contains all the details your carrier needs to complete the port:

• Current End User’s Name

• Billing Contact Name

• Account Number

• Billing Telephone Number (BTN)

• Current Billing/Service Address

Action Required:

Provide the information on the POC to your carrier and instruct them to use it exactly as listed. Incorrect or missing details will result in an automatic rejection.

Tips for a Smooth Port

• Inform your carrier this is a wireline (landline) port, as all Number Shack numbers are classified this way, not wireless.

• Ensure the carrier enters the Reseller’s Name in the Reseller field on the porting form. Leaving it blank will trigger rejection.

• Since this is a wireline-to-wireless port, it cannot be completed same-day. Request your carrier to schedule the port for the next business day.

• Verify your carrier lists the current account owner/holder (as shown on your POC) on the port request. Using your name as the account holder will cause rejection.
